Streetwise
Safety for Women, by M. DePasquale Jr.
|
|
ichael
DePasquale Jr. is the founder of Federation
United Martial Artists' "Crusades Against
Crime", and he is a well known figure
in American budo/martial arts. Both he and
his father (DePasquale Sr.) are highly profiled
ju jitsu personalities
in the US. He has also penned this book
from 1977:
"Monarch Illustrated Guide to Ju Jitsu",
and you can read more about it here.
|
In
this book, "Streetwise Safety for Women",
DePasquale give various forms of practical
advice on how to prevent and avoid violence
in the first place, and also various self-defense
methods to cope with attacks.
|
The
advice that are given may seem a little
"American" and paranoid to others.
It is almost like there is no end to the
dangers lurking everywhere :-) Still,
most of the advice you are presented with are
universal enough to be of possible significance
also to people elsewhere. This concerns
things like using public transport and taxi
(cabs), in and out of your own car
, walking the streets, problems at
home, break-ins, harassments, rape aso.
|
I
am sure that we could discuss the selection
of physical methods. This will always be
a matter of taste and preferences anyhow.
Apart from minor things I find this book
to be absolutely worthwhile.
