Judo
Self-Taught in Pictures
|
|
ere
is yet another ju jitsu book "pretending
to be" judo. From A to Z this is
nothing but ju jitsu. If nothing else
it sure shows what judo originally was built
from.
|
The
book was originally published in 1952. This
edition is from 1959 - being the 13th edition.
This should at least indicate that the book
showed some level of success.
The cover is plain and red, with only title
and author written on the spine. It
has an introduction written by the well-known
E. J. Harrison.
The author, Hubert
Klinger-Klingerstorff was a judo teacher
at the University of Wienna, Austria.
|
There
is a long list of themes and methods found
in this book, and they are all being described
with text as well as pictures (drawings).
In fact it is quite easy to follow the techniques
by means of the combined text
and drawings.
|
You
will find defences against weapons, various
holds, locks, strangle holds, dog (!), defences
on the ground etc. The methods involve
punches and kicks, nerve attacks (so called
atemi), locks, stangulations and
more.
|
By
and large this is a book that is well worth
checking out. As always,
I do recommend you try Abebooks.
They
are connected to an impressive list of retailers
carrying out of print, interesting and
rare books. I also found the book
on Amazon last time I checked it out.
You can find a link in the left-hand column.
Happy hunting!
