Insights
Along The Warrior's Path, av Chris Parker
|
|
his
book, or rather, booklet: "Insights
Along The Warrior's Path: The Paradox of
the Martial Arts" is written by
Chris Parker. Parker wrote for many
years for "Fighting Arts International"
(a periodical that was published by the
well-known British karate-profile Terry
O'Neill). In the magazine Parker had a series
of articles with the heading: "Insights Along
The Warrior's Path".
|
Here
we are following Adam on his "warrior's
path", his meetings with and trainings
before a demanding techer, full of
insight as well as humor.
|
Each chapter
in the book are about one such encounter between
Adam or his master, or Adam and another
person. Each of these are presented like
small philosophical discussions or
reflections upon life, or training in the
martial arts. Parker is a good and experienced
writer, and his ideas are easy
to follow and relate to. Combine this with
all the humorous whims and oddities of the
master, and you have yourself some rather entertaining
and enjoyable fables.
|
This
is not a profound masterpiece or a training-manual.
What it does is to say something important
of being on the warrior's path - and it
does so with humor - not bad! It should
give you more that enough food for thought
about the essence of the martial arts. I
do assume that you're ready and able, and
that you wish to search for the book
at Abebooks.
You may also wish to try E-bay.
