Dojo
Wisdom, av Jennifer Lawler
|
|
his
book:
"Dojo Wisdom" is a wise, inspiring
and positively different book about the
martial arts. It's written by Jennifer Lawler,
a female author, writer and taekwondo
instructor from the US. Amongst other
things she has written "Martial Arts for
Dummies" and "Martial
Arts for Women - a practical guide".
|
In
the introduction to the book she boldly
states: "I am a woman
warrior. ...Being a warrior isn't about
learning how to kick people in five different
ways. Being a warrior is about how you live
your life."
|
In
this pearl of a book she has written 100 small
stories. Through these short stories she
points to how regular training in martial
arts or budo can affect you in several positive
ways. If you ever wondered why seemingly
sane and regular people do martial
arts lik ju jitsu (or karate, taekwondo
or similar) - then you will probably find
most of the possible answers in this book.
|
Like
I said, this is an inspiring book that gives
you lot of thoughts and ideas to work
on. It really should be read by anyone who
ever doubted the true values of real martial
arts. Of course it will also prove benefitial
for anyone wishing to take up martial arts
in one form or another. If you're a teacher,
then this is a must read!
|
This
is the sort of book that you can give or
recommend to anyone into budo or martial
arts: parents, students and teachers
alike. It's warm, positive and without being
"deep" (as in mysterious) it
talks about the deeper meaning of our
arts.
